(See Police Gazette, 1882, page 199.) Stealing Thomas G. Richardson’s saddle at Putiki: The saddle lias been recovered by Constable John Coyle, Marton Police. It was sold to George Phippin, at Marton, by a man who gave his name as Frederick Roberts, which may be a fictitious name, for whose arrest a warrant has been issued by the Marton Bench. Description : English, about twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, clean-shaved except dark sandy moustache, smart active appearance ; dressed in dark coat, light-tweed trousers, and blue-serge hat. He was last heard of at Bull’s, and is supposed to have gone to the Manawatu District.

Charles Peterson is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with stealing, between the 2nd and 20th instant, from the cabin of the ketch “ Palmerston,” at Rattray Street Wharf, Dunedin, a box of cambric handkerchiefs (recovered) and an oilskin coat; the property of Thomas Hill; value 15s. Coat identifiable. Description: A Swede, a seaman and cook, about thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, rather stout build, fair complexion, fair hair moustache and goatee, cheeks shaved. He is supposed to have left Port Chalmers on the 21st instant in the barque “Clifton” for Kaipara.

Stolen between the 14th October last and the 2nd instant, from a stable at Ida Valley, a pack-saddle, canvas lining, leather crupper and girths, hooks and mounting complete; the property of Messrs. Keenan and Morgan; value £2. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 10th and 15th ultimo, from the garden of Guise Britton, Cashel Street West, Christchurch, between 40

and 50 yards of garden hose, considerably worn, brass fittings; value £2 10s. Identifiable.

The silver watch, the property of Herman Nelson, reported stolen from a cabin of the steamer “ Manapouri,” between Sydney and Auckland, has been recovered.

Stolen on the 13th or 14th ultimo, from One-Tree Hill, Auckland, a saddle with hogskin seat and solid leather flaps, wide gullet, newly lined, cut from knife across near flap; the property of Robert Hall; value £3 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Charles Adams, supposed English, looked like a sailor, about twenty years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, rather stout, quiet appearance and manner.

The truck-barrow wheels and axles, the prope ty of Robert Flett, stolen from a shed at Lyttelton, have been recovered, and traced to the possession of three boys, named Edward Gardiner, John Buckley, and Paul Tubbs, arrested by Sergeant F. H. Morice, Lyttelton Police. Gardiner was committed to the Burnham Industrial School for three years ; Buckley was sentenced to six hours’ imprisonment and to be well birched; and Tubbs discharged with a caution.

Stolen on the 14th or 15t,h instant, from on board the cutter “Four Sisters,” at Auckland, the gaff-topsail halyards; the property of Joseph Craig; value £2. Identification doubtful.

Stolen on the 14th or 15th instant, from the fowlbouse of P. Finn, Strathern, Invercargill, six hens; value 10s.

Stolen on the 13tli instant, from a rail way-carriage between Harrington’s Crossing and Invercargill, an old white handkerchief, containing twenty £1 notes and Bs. in silver; the property of Mrs. Christina Murray.

Stolen on the 14th or 15th instant, from the front door of the residence of W. M. Stenhouse, Moray Place, Dunedin, a door-mat, about 4 feet long, plain pattern, slightly worn; value 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the Bth and 11th instant, from a goods-case at Dunedin or Clinton, 250 cigars and three boxes of sardines; the property of Frederick Lang; value£l 3s. 6d.

Stolen about the 25th ultimo, from theWaiau Hotel stables, "Wniau, Canterbury, an English imitation-pigskin saddle, nearly new; the property of Edward Herbert King; value £5. Identifiable.

Stolen during the night of the 13th instant, from Alfred Street, Blenheim, a hanging hinge, 3| feet long, four holes, casting wheel 8 inches in diameter attached; the property of James Anderson Henderson ; value £3. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 12th instant, from a clothes-line at Knightstown, Christchurch, a white damask table-cloth, rather worn, iron mould near one of corners in shape of a pickle-jar lid ; the property of Shirley Gow; value ss. Identifiable.

Stolen between the loth September last and tlie 13Lh instant, from on board the hulk “Amherst,” at Port Chalmers, about 20 fathoms of f-inch ship’s chain, with hook about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide at one end; the property of James Fox ; value £lO.

Stolen on the 2nd instant, from Bond Street, Dunedin, an English fox-terrier dog, white body, tan-marks on head, white stripe down forehead, tan-spot on tail, carries his tail erect; answers to the name “Tom;” the property of William McLaren ; value £2O. Identifiable. It is supposed that the dog has been stolen by a rabbiter and taken up country.

Stolen on the Sth or 9th instant, from the gold-mining claim of Thomas Vesey, Roundhill, Southland, between 2 and 3 ounces of gold; value about £lO.

Stolen during the night of the 7th instant, from the goldmining claim of John Davis, at Waikaia, six cocoanut mats, 2 feet square, and about an ounce of gold ; value about £4 10s. Suspicion attached to George Chong and Ah Chun, who live near the claim. The cocoanut mats have since been recovered.

Stolen on the 2nd or 3rd instant, from the clothes-line of the Ven. Archdeacon Williams, at Gisborne, a new white unbleached table-cloth, marked WLW on one of the corners ; value Gs. 6d. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 9th or 10th ultimo, from Ballam’s Hotel stables, Waverley, a whalebone riding-whip, about 3 feet long, plaited over with white whalebone, three silver rings on handle, “ Presented to Lieutenant S. J. Tocker by the Hutt Cavalry,” engraved on ring near butt; the property of Samuel John Tocker ; value £5. Identifiable. Mr. Tocker offers £1 reward for the recovery of the whip and conviction of the offender.
