A MAN, name unknown, is charged with having indecently assaulted Adelaide Mary Brook, aged seven years, in an unoccupied house in Kilmore Street, Christchurch, between noon and 1 p.m. on the 18th ultimo. Description : Between fifty and sixty years of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, very red face and nose, thin scraggy grey beard whiskers

and moustache, drunken debauched appearance; wore old blue or black sac-coat, dark-tweed trousers, and old black wideawake hat. Identification doubtful.

He is supposed to have left Lyttelton on the 14th instant by steamer for the North, and will likely endeavour to leave the colony. There are several other similar charges pending against him.
