Rewards.
The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable William Thomas Collerton, Wellington Police, for the arrest of James Johnson and John Carolam, who deserted from the barque “ Cooleen,” at Lyttelton.
The sum of £3 3s. has been awarded by the Property-tax Department to Detective L. D. Benjamin, Wellington Police, in recognition of the assistance rendered by him in the case of W. E. Great rex, convicted for not making a return of his property, as required by the Property Assessment Acts.
The sum of £2 10s. has been awarded by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society to Constable Thomas Addis, Whakatane Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Samuel Moody, fined £3 and costs for pursuing game without a license.
The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Constables Thomas King and Will Willoughby, Oamaru and Geraldine Police, for the arrest of four seamen who deserted from the ship “ Padishah,” at Port Chalmers.
The sum of £5 has been awarded by the Wellington City Council to Probationary Detective William L. Chrystal, Wellington Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of George Bosbey, Herbert Jeffrey, and Mark Kershaw, convicted of injuring trees within the city reserves.
The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Robert F. Henry, Christchurch Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the arrest and prosecution of John William Wilson, sentenced at the late sittings of the Supreme Court, Christchurch, to three years’ penal servitude for indecently assaulting a femalei
The sum of 10s. has been awarded to Constable James A. Connell, New Plymouth Police, by Mr. Charles Rogers, for the recovery of a gold medal lost by him.

Damaging Neill and Cookery’s stable-door at Masterton. — Henry Archer and William Heebie have been convicted of this offence, and ordered to pay the cost of damage.
During the night of the sth ultimo, at Opawa, near Christchurch, a cow, the property of Samuel Needham, was maliciously wounded with a sharp-pointed instrument in four parts of the womb, which killed her.
On the morning of the 22nd ultimo two windows in the dwelling of John Downie, at South Dunedin, were maliciously broken and damaged to the extent of about £3.
