Samuel Garrett is charged, on warrant issued by the Timaru Bench, with embezzling £3 35., at Waimate, on the 3rd ultimo, the money of Messrs. Brown and Everett. Description : English, about, forty-six years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, pale complexion, light sandy hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, delicate-looking, very much stooped ; wore brown-tweed coat, white-moleskin trousers, white soft felt hat, and blucher boots ; fond of smoking and gambling. He was seen in Oamaru on the 10th ultimo. It is believed there will be other similar charges preferred against him.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of John Beattie for having stabbed and assaulted John Wilson, at Ettrick. He ha 3 a brother at Green Yale Station, near Tapanui. He was seen with his brother, near Waikaka, on the 22nd ultimo, and then had some fresh scratches on his face; he went into the ranges. On the 24th ultimo a man, answering his description, purchased at Edger’s store, Waikaka Township, some flour, lea, and sugar; he was dressed in a black monkey-jacket, moleskin trousers, and soft black hat; had a piece of lightoilcloth round his swag, and fresh scratches on his face. °

Between 9 am. and 12.30 p.m. on the 16th July last the points at the Ringway railway siding, near Otantau, Soul bland, were maliciously altered, which caused the train to run off the main line into the siding. Between 12.30 and 4 p.m. on the same day the padlock of the same points was muliciou.-ly broken.

A MAN. name unknown, is charged with having indecently exposed his per-on to Ellen Fairharn. in Bedford Row, Christchurch, about 9 p.m. on the 10th ultimo. Description: Supposed English, about thirty years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, medium build; wore long dark overcoat, supposed an id-ter, and hard black felt hat. About 845 p.m. on the 17>h ultimo a man of the same description indecently exposed his person to Helen Infield and Mary Atkinson, also in Bedford Row.

George Isidoee D’Akcey, alias Danzicker, is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with uttering a forged cheque for £lO to Henry Groth, in the Golden Fleece Hotel, Christchurch, on the 2nd ultimo. Description : Supposed an English Jew, a clerk, about, twenty-six years of age, about 5 feet. 7 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, round features, thick nose, black hair, rather long and inclined to curl at back, clean-shared except short, black side whiskers and moustache, short -sighted.and wears spectacles; dressed in shabby-black suit and hard black hat. The cheque is on the Colonial Bmk, Oamaru, and purports to be signed by R. F. Lewis, whom offender said was his uncle, and resided at Oamaru. He is also charged, on warrant issued by the Ashburton Bench, with uttering a forged cheque for £4 to Thomas Qui 1. at Ashburton, on the 12lh ultimo. He went by the name of Marks at. Ashburton. The cheque purports to be signed by S. D. N at ban, Christchurch, by whom the offender was lately employed. He left, Ashburton on the 12th ultimo by train for the South, accompanied by a man about twenty-two years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, shabby appearance. A Mrs. Hyman, of Dunedin, is an aunt of the offender’s. It. is believed lie will make for Melbourne, where be had been before he came to this colony. He is also charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with uttering a forged cheque for £lO (drawn on the the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, purporting to be signed R. B. Turner in favour of F. Marks) to James Nixon, at Dunedin, on the 20th ultimo. "When in Dunedin he wore pepper-and-salt tweed suit and hard black-felt bat. He is fond of playing billiards and singing Pinafore airs. He frequently expressed a wish to go to Sydney to Richard Thatcher, a friend of his, who keeps an hotel there, but was formerly a theatrical agent. Supposed to have gone to Melbourne or Sydney.

A MAN, name unknown, is charged with having indecently exposed his person to Annie McCutchen and Elizabeth Stephenson, aged seven years and six years respectively, in the Cricketground, Kensington, near Dunedin, about 1.30 p.m. on the 26th ultimo. Description : About thirty years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, very dark complexion, dark hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache; wore dark-tweed suit and soft blackfelt hat; looked like a loafer. Identifiable.

Francis Docherty is charged, on warrant issued by the Oamaru Bench, with having committed a breach of “ The Debtors and Creditors Act. 1876,” at Oamaru, on the 11th August last, by concealing £2OO from his creditors. Description : Irish, recently an hotelkeeper in Oamaru, about fortyfive years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, medium build, dark complexion and eyes, sharp features, dark hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, worn long; usually wears dark-paget coat, greytweed trousers, and hard black-felt hat. He left Lyttelton on the 6th ultimo by the steamer “ Rotorua ” for Melbourne.

John Gordon is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with fraudulent bankruptcy, committed at Dunedin on the 23rd February last, by concealing £3OO and a gold watch from his creditors. Descriplion: Scotch, formerly a dairyman at Halfway Bush, fifty-two years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, sharp nose, grey sunken eyes, dark hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, turning grey; wore brown-mixture tweed coat and vest, bedford-cord trousers, red-and-wliite-plaid shirt, black-felt hat, and lace-up boots. He was arrested at Dunedin on the 20th ultimo on a charge of drunkenness. A daughter of his lives at Port Chalmers.

A MAN, name unknown, is charged with having indecently exposed his person to Elizabeth Mary Munnings and Margaret Ellis, in the Museum, Christchurch, about 3 30 p.m. on the 19th ultimo. Description: About twenty-five years of age,

5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, medium build, small dark-sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache, very red face; wore dark clothes and small hard black hat; carried a walking-stick; respectable appearance. Identification doubtful.
