Offences Not Otherwise Described.
A MAN who gave his name as John Baker, which is believed to be fictitious, is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with obtaining, on the 27th April last, from James Word, sen., at Christchurch, by false representations, a horse-collar, a pair of cart-winkers, and a set of leading-chains * value £2 16s. 6d. Identifiable. Description : Between thirty and thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, darkish hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache; active appearance, dressed like a labourer. Identifiable. He falsely represented that he was sent for the articles by Mr. Tancred, of Grass Lee, in whose employment he said he was.
Frenchy, alias Georgia Tulieri, is charged, on warrant issued by the New Plymouth Bench, with having, about the 9th ultimo, at Inglewood, obtained from William Carter goods valued £3l 18s. 6d., and cheques valued £4 14s. Bd, by means of a valueless cheque. Description : A native of France, a musician, thirty-two years of age, 5 feet A inch high, sallow complexion, grey eyes, black hair. (See Police Gazette, 1880, page 215.) He is supposed to have gone to Wanganui.
(See Police Gazette, 1881, page 123.) The man, name unknown, charged on warrant with being illegally on the premises of Colonel Edward Pearce, at Wellington, is identical with Andreas Thorson, alias Andrew Torson. (Eor his description, &c., see Police Gazette, 1881, page 78.)
William McGee is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with embezzling, between the 13th and 15th instant, on board the barque “ Berwickshire,” at Wellington, four cases of whiskey, two since recovered; the property of Edward James Stuart; value£l4. Description: Irish, a seaman, twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, sandy moustache and imperial, cheeks shared $ wore blue guernsey under his coat, and a sealskin cap.
