Extracts from Victoria Police Gazette.

(From Gazette, 1881, pages 185 and 191.) Stolen from George Alexander Mclntosh, farmer, Ascot> near Ballarat, on the 22nd July, a dark-brown saddle-horse, branded like DRO near shoulder, off hip down ; a second-hand saddle, a railway-rug, a pair of light plaid trousers and rest, and a pair of shoes; value £ls. Warrant issued for Harry Hatherell, alias Stafford, seventeen years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7

inches high, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, no hair on face, slender build, large nose and mouth ; wears a new black coat, soft black hat, and tweed trousers, or probably the stolen clothes. He is likely to go to his father, John Hatherell, a ganger at the Pakipaki Kailway-station, Napier, New Zealand. —O. 4803.—26th July, 1881.

The horse, saddle, and bridle, stolen by Harry Hatherell, alias Stafford, from George Alexander Mclntosh, have been recovered at the Eastern Station Hotel, Ballarat East, where they were left on the 22nd July by a man supposed to be identical with the offender, who is believed to have gone to Melbourne by train the same night.—o. 4803. —29th July, 1881.
