Infanticide.

On the morning of the 29th ultimo the body of a newly-born male child, wrapped in a piece of white calico, was found in the coach-yard of Robert Braid, Princes Street South, Dunedin. At an inquest held on the body on the same day, at the Warmers’ Arms Hotel, Princes Street, to inquire as to the cause of the child’s death, the following verdict was returned: “ Wilful murder against some person or persons at present unknown.” The cause of death was suffocation, or from cold and exposure.
