Richard Medex and Mary Robertson are charged, on warrant issued by the Port Chalmers Bench, with stealing, between (lie Ist and 30ih ultimo, from the store of William Howell, at Sawyer’s Bay, 12s in silver, forty cakes of tobacco, two teapots, two china plates, a china mug, a jug, and six plates (s’nce recovered, except money and tobacco); value £2 12s. Josepii Rickets Jeetes is charged, on warrant issued by the Te Aroha Bench, with stealing, on the 4th January last, from the dwelling of James John Cole, at Kutikati, a saddle and bridle, since recovered, value £5 10s. He left the Thames on the Bth January last for Auckland.

Robert Taylor is charged, on warrant issued by the Malvern Bench, with stealing, between the 18th and 24th ultimo, from the whare of Arthur Henery, at G-landore Station, a nearlv-new single-breasted tweed vest with three buttons on front, centre one off; value Bs. The flannel stolen from the shop-door of Robert Donnelly, Adelaide Road, has been recovered, and Benjamin Henry Brocklin arrested for the offence by Constable Henry Gordon, Wellington Police, and sentenced to three months’ labour. Brocklin was also sentenced to six months’ labour on two other charges of larceny.

Stolen on the 20th March last, from the Ashburton Hotel, Ashburton, a ladies’ colonial-gold double albert, 13 inches long, curb-pattern, three slides, middle one stationary, the other two slide up and down, gold bar at end, an English gold key with stone in centre, one side green and yellow, the other side dark green, attached ; the property of Jessie Mutch ; value £6 10s. Stolen between the 12th and 21st ultimo, from the dwelling of Mrs. Edward Jones, Green Island Bush, a gold ring with five pearls, one of which is slightly black ; value £5. Identifiable. *

Description : English, a hawker, twenty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight build, sallow complexion, pimples on face, dark hair, clean-slmved; wears dark-tweed suit and black billycock hat. He drives a grey horse in spring-cart, and frequently visits Greendale.

During the night of the 29th ultimo the City Council Offices, Queen Street, Auckland, were broken into, and a cash-box which was kept in a safe in the Treasurer’s office broken open, and £lO 10s. in gold, ten £1 notes, and £4 10s. in silver stolen; the property of the Auckland City Corporation.

Stolen on the 6th instant, from the dwelling of William Davis, Springston, Canterbury, a very old red-leather pocketbook containing two £1 notes, a lialf-crowm, and fourpence. Pocketbook identifiable. Suspicion attached to a swagman, name unknown, who was seen coming out of the house. Description : About thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, well built, fair complexion, black eyes, black hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache ; wore dark-cloth jacket, dark trousers, light-felt hat, and elastic-side boots ; carried a tent swag, and had with him a grey terrier dog. Supposed to have gone towards Christchurch.

On the morning of the 6th instant the Ponsonby Club Hotel, Auckland, was broken into, and a till containing 15s. in silver and copper and some papers stolen ; the property of William Stanford. A battered and burnt threepenny piece, which was among the silver, can be identified. The till and papers have been recovered.

Stolen on the 6th instant, from a bedroom in the New Zealand Restaurant, Manchester Street, Christchurch, a small gold hunting lever watch, No. 73672, no maker’s name; the property of Mary Phipps; value£s.
