Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
William Charles Roberts is charged, on warrant issued by the Kumara Bench, with deserting his wife and child at Kumara since the 6th January last. Description: English, a labourer and sailor, thirty years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, pale complexion, fair hair, whiskers, and moustache. When last seen by his wife he wore a black sac-coat, moleskin trousers, and an old straw hat. lie went to the Canterbury District, and in May last was working near Ashburton.

Michael Crowley, chaarged on warrant with disobeying a summons to appear at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Geraldine, to answer a charge of assault, has been arrested by Constable Thomas Livingston, Duntroon Police, and remanded to Geraldine.

The warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench for the arrest of John Ross, for failing to maintain his wife and three children, has been cancelled.
Robert Thomas Satherthwaite is charged, on warrant issued by the Timaru Bench, with failing, since the 7th instant, to provide his wife and three children with adequate means of support. Description : A native of Victoria, a drapers’ assistant, twenty-four years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, brown hair, thin sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache ; when last seen wore dark-tweed suit and soft black-felt hat.

Rose Jackman, charged on warrant of commitment to gaol for one month’s labour for vagrancy, has been arrested by Sergeant Terence O’Brien, Dunedin Police.
