Extract from South Australian Police Gazette.

(From Gazette, 1880, page 92.) On the 18th July last, William Robertson left Edward Henry Jennings (who was in his employ) in charge of two bullock-teams at Sterling North, stating, as Jennings said, his intention of going to Crystal Brook, and returning in a few days ; but he has not since been heard of, and fears are entertained of foul play, owing to the fact that Jennings, soon after Robertson’s departure, sold the cattle of which he had been left in charge, and disappeared from the neighbourhood. Description of Robertson : A native of South Australia, aged twenty-five years, 5 feet 1H inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, lightbrown whiskers, beard, and moustache, large blue eyes, slovenly appearance; a teamster. Description of Jennings, for whom a warrant has been issued for larceny as a bailee of the abovementioned cattle : About twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, fair thin whiskers, round full face, square shoulders, rather stout build, and frequently talking about wrestling. Police officers are instructed to use every possible means to find this man, and a clue to the fate of Robertson. Jennings, whose arrest is very important, is said to have left South Australia for one of the other colonies.

By Authority: George Didsbdry, Government Printer, Wellington. -1880.
