Barker, William Harris, W. Bray ley, and James O’Hearn, deserters from Her Majesty’s ships “Emerald” and “ Sandfly.”

The sum of £3 and £2 respectively bas been awarded from the Reward Fund to Sergeant Richard Haldane and Constable Thomas Stephenson, Timaru Police, in recognition of their exertions in the arrest of William John Simmons, sentenced at the last sittings of the Supreme Court at Tirnaru to eighteen months’ labour for stealing from the person.

The sum of £3 has been awarded to Constable Richard Stapleton, Sliortland Police, for the arrest of David Gibson, who deserted from the barquo “ Allastor,” at Auckland.

The sum of £3 lias been awarded from tbe Reward Fund to Constable Edward Coffey, Campbelltown Police, in recognition of zeal and attention shown by him in the arrest of Arthur Watson Cummock, charged with arson, embezzlement, and larceny.

The sum of £3 has also been awarded from the same fund to Constable Thomas Gallagher, Otago Police, in recognition of his praiseworthy conduct in the arrest and prosecution of Charles Lewis, sentenced to two years’ labour at the last sittings of the Supreme Court at Dunedin for cattle-stealing, and for the recovery of the stolen cattle.

The sum of £2 2s. each has been awarded to Sergeant James Slattery and Detective James W. Ede, Nelson Police, in recognition of zeal shown by them in the recovery of stolen property, and the arrest of Peter Theodore. Wilson and William Mercer, sentenced at the District Court, Nelson, in January last, to two years’ and eighteen months’ labour respectively for larceny.

The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Constable C. Knapp and William Steer, for the arrest of James Elliott and Charles Johnson, who deserted from the barque “ Chaudiere.”

On the 31st of May last a counterfeit sovereign was uttered by a Mrs. Sullivan to Richard Forgie, at Parnell.

On the 23rd ultimo a window, value £1 10s., was maliciously broken in Brunswick Villa, Timaru : the property of Rebecca Shields.

At 8 p.m. on the 14th instant a boy, name unknown, threw the knob of a gate through a window in the dwelling of Charles Cunningham, Smith Street, Dunedin, damaging it to the value of 10s. Description : About 5 feet high, slight build ; wore light-brown coat and trousers, and soft black hat. Identification doubtful.

During the night of the 9th instant an ornamental knob was maliciously broken off the gate of Thomas Reynolds, Dowling Street, Dunedin.

About the 14th instant, at St. Kilda, South Dunedin, a dog, value £3O, the property of William Allen, was maliciously killed by poison.
