Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
(See Police Gazette, 1879, page 109.) John llaggie, charged on warrant with refusing to support his illegitimate child by Emma Jones, has been arrested by Constable Robert Allen, Christchurch Police, and remanded to Wellington.
Edwin Harris is charged on warrant (Bench by whom
issued not stated) with deserting his wife and child at Kihikihi, Waikato, since about the 26th of -April last. Description: „ English, a ploughman and carter, twenty-six years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, slight build, dark complexion, dark hair and beard worn short, no moustache, pleasing appearance. It is supposed he has gone to Cambridge.

James Sheridan, charged on warrant with deserting his wife, lias been arrested by Constable Godfrey Jeffrey, Dunedin Police.

William Stark, charged on warrant with refusing to support his illegitimate child by Hester McFeeters, has been arrested by the Carlyle Police and remanded to Ashburton.
Thomas Waterworth is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with failing to provide his wife and two children with adequate means of support at Christchurch since about the 7th of May last. Description : A native of Preston, England, a carpenter, fifty-three years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache turning grey, chin shaved, slovenly appearance, fond of drink.
John Vaughan is charged, on warrant issued by the Oamaru Bench, with deserting his wife at Ngapara since March last.
Description Irish, thirty years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout build, fair hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, high forehead, slight cast in left eye. It is supposed he has gone to Invercargill or East Gore.
