William Mathieson, alias Smith, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with forging and uttering a cheque for £9 10s. 4-d., at Wellington, on the sth instant. Description : English, a labourer, twenty years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, medium build, fair hair and complexion, slightly freckled, small moustache, and very small whiskers ; w r ore grey suit and black hat. It is supposed he has gone to the Wairarapa. The cheque, which was uttered to Valentine Cohen, and drawn on the Colonial Bank, Wellington, purports to be signed by David Smith, of Silverstream, Upper Hutt.
A man, name unknown, is charged with having indecently
exposed his person to Jane Reid, aged twelve years, in London Street, Dunedin, about 7 p.m. on the 2nd instant. Description : Supposed Irish, twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, medium build, brown hair, and small brown beard; wore grey-tweed suit. Identifiable.

v Edward McKenna, charged with uttering a forged cheque to John McNamara, at Kaiapoi, has been arrested by Detective L. D. Benjamin, Christchurch Police, and committed for trial.

The man supposed to be named Reynolds, charged on warrant with forgery and uttering at Christchurch, uttered the forged cheque to Alfred Wright, and not to Alfred Walker, as previously gazetted.
On the morning of the 28th ultimo, six large stones were found placed on the rails of the Kaiapoi and Eyre ton Bailway line, near Jackson’s crossing.
