Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
Thomas Lloyd, August Linburn, Alfred Thembing, and Jacob Rasmussen are charged, on warrant issued by the Lyttelton Bench, with having, on the. 23rd ultimo, deserted from the ship “Pleiades,” at Lyttelton. Description: Lloyd is English, thirty-two years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, slight build, dark complexion, long black whiskers, beard, and moustache ; wore blue cloth suit and soft black felt hat. Linburn is Dutch, about thirty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light sandy beard and moustache, cheeks shaved, bald ; wore monkey jacket, dark tweed trousers and vest, and soft felt hat. Thembing is a German, about twentyyears of age ; 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, beardless ; wore dark tweed suit and billycock hat, slovenly gait. Rasmussen is Dutch, about twenty-eight years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, build, dark complexion, black whiskers, beard, and moustache; wore monkey jacket, tweed trousers and vest, and cap with peak.
Rennie Quellenie, Joseph Crikuert, and Daniel Valentine, Frenchmen, arc charged with having deserted from the ship “ Ulysse,” at Port Chalmers, during the night of the 21st ultimo. Description: Quellenie is twenty-seven years of age, 4 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, clean shaved except small moustache. Crikuert is nineteen years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, dark-brown hair, dark complexion, grey eyes, clean-shaved. Valentine is eighteen years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, and dark-grey eyes. The captain, Ernest Plisson, offers £1 reward for the arrest of Crikuert.
Olus Cornelius and Paid Kerstein are charged with having, about the 3rd instant, deserted from the barque “ Nile,” at Dunedin. Description : Cornelius is a Swede, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, fair hair, round full face, blue eyes, speaks good English. Kerstein is a Swede, seventeen years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium build, brown hair, fresh complexion, speaks good English.
