E. G. Bleylmann is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with having, on the 10th April lust, at Dunedin, forged a bill of exchange for £4O 10s., drawn on Francis Crowder. Description : A Prussian, a law r clerk and seaman, twenty-eight years of age, 5 feet B.} inches high, medium build, very fresh complexion, large blue eyes, light brown hair, small sandy whi-leers and moustache, high bald forehead, small feminine hands, smart erect gait, speaks English fluently, but with a slight foreign accent; usually wears dark clothes and underleathers. lie was employed as clerk in the office of Messrs. Adams and Joyce, solicitors, Dunedin. Ho left, Port Chalmers by the steamer “Arawala” on the 24th October last tor Melbourne, and was soon after seen there, when lie was clean shaved, and bad assumed tlie name “ Hill.” lie is supposed to be at present residing in Geelong. He is known to a Mr. Holme and to Sarah Soria 1, who reside at 17, Grant Street, Emerald Hill, and also to the chief steward of the steamer “ Arawafa.”

JonN Mayne is charged, on warrant issued by the Invercargill Bench, with having, on the 22nd ultimo, at Dee Street, Invercargill, obtained a black cloth trousers and vest, a corded tuced coat, and a white shirt, value £4 195., from Peter Matildas Peters, by false pretences. Description : A Tasmanian, a saw-mill hand, twenty-seven years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, brown hair, iiglit brown beard, whiskers, and moustache, small thin face, sallow complexion, in delicate health ; wore dark clothes and white straw hat with puggery, and sometimes wears a black hat with puggery. He was seen in Dunedin on the 30ih ultimo. He lias a sister employed as cook at the. Star and Garter Hotel, Oainaru.

Description : English, twenty-four or twentyfive years of age, 5 feet G inches High, medium build, fair complexion, light hair, no beard or moustache; wore dark clothes and dark felt bat. The cheque is dated the 4th instant, signed “J. Marsdcn,” and indorsed “E. Cole.” This offender is also charged, on warrant issued at Nelson, with having, on the same dale at Nel-on, obtained goods and money, value £3 10s., from James Phillips Cooke, by means of a valueless cheque. The cheque is dated the sth instant, signed “James Marsden,” and indorsed “E. Cole.” He has left Nelson, where he was not previously known. It. is supposed that this offender is identical with Walter Weston, alias Hedge, alias Edward Hedge, alias Joyce, charged on warrant, with having issued a number of valueless cheques at. Christchurch. (See Police Gazette, 1877, pages 77 and 85.) Weston, alias Hedge, alias Joyce, is now described as being only 5 feet 5 inches high, lias a crucifixion tattoed on one of his arms, and union jack and coat of arms on the other arm.

A man known ns Ayegim, or Ayegrecn, is charged, on warrant issued by the Kumara Bench, with having unlawfully cut and wounded Elizabeth Campbell, in Her house, at Scldon Street , Kumara, on Iho 23rd ultimo. Description: A Norwegian, a miner, twenty years of age, 5 feet lo£ inches high, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, no beard or moustache ; wore dark coat, tweed trousers, and wideawake hat.

A MAN, name unknown, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with having, on the 3Ut ultimo, in Manners Street, Wellington, obtained £3 Is. 6d. and goods, value £1 Bs. 6d., from Henry D. Edwards, by means of a valueless cheque. Description: About twenty years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, no beard or whiskers; wore dark tweed suit and black cap with leather peak. He represented that he was employed by Mr. J. C. Crawford, at Evans Bay, near Wellington.

Richard Elston is charged, on warrant issued by the Nelson Bench, with having, on the 22nd ultimo, at Wakefield, near Nelson, obtained £l3 from Robert Martin Smith by means of a valueless cheque. Description: English, a ch-rk, twentyseven years of ago, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, red board, whiskers, and moustache, brown hair, dark brown eyes, blinkswilh botii eyes; wore grey tweed clothes and bla k high crowned bat. He had a black bag containing a brown suit of clothes in bis possession when lie left Nelson. It is supposed lie has come to Wellington or gone to Auckland. Mr. Smith offers £5 reward for the offender’s arrest.

Hugh O’Neil is charged, on warrant, issued by the Christchurch Bench, witli having, on the 7th instant, disobeyed a summons to appear at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Christchurch, to answer a charge of being the master or keeper of a house of ill fame. Description: Irish, a labourer, thirty-seven years of age, 5 feet 4;,-' inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, straight nose, small mouth, scar on left sido of nose near eye and on forehead ; wore dark tweed coat and vest, moleskin trousers, lace-up boots, and old white felt hat; a drunkard. lie left his house at Christchurch on the 7th instant, and took with him a blue blanket swag.
