/Stolen on the 15th instant, at Pig-hunting Creek,- Great South Road,' Timaru, a brown leather pocket-book, containing a cheque for £236 on the Bank of New Zealand, Cristchurch, dated the 3rd October, 1877, drawn -by William Simons in favour of N. Tapling ; a cheque for £l2 on the Bank of New Zealand, Timaru, drawn by Francis Hicks in favour of Nathaniel Tapling ; two Bank of New Zealand £1 notes and 10s. 6d. in silver ; the property of Nathaniel Tapling. Pocketbook and cheques identifiable. Suspicion attached to Thomas Lambert, a member of the criminal class. •Louis Justland, alias Tresland, charged on warrant with having stolen a revolver at Christchurch, the property of Antonio Ejerer, has been arrested by Constable William Smart, Rakaia Police.

• Stolen on the 16th instant, from a desk in the New Zealand Times Newspaper Office, Willis Street, Wellington, six £1 notes, a half-sovereign, £2 Is. lid., in silver, and four 3s. stamps, the property of the New Zealand Times Company. It is supposed the desk was opened by means of a skeleton' key. Suspicion attached to George De Courcey, English, twentv-five years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, small dark whiskers and moustache, chin shaved ; wore grey tweed suit.

Stolen between the 9th and 14th instant., from the garden of Ar Tie and party, at Akaroa, a new long-handle shovel, a small garden spade broken at back, and 318 cauliflower plants ; value £5. Spade identifiable.- * r >

Stolen about the 4th instant, from the forecastle of the schooner Sarah Pile, at Westport, four £1 notes and six woollen tablecloths, three green-and-black, two red-and-black, and one brown-and-black with yellow border; the property of Morns Litzen. Table-cloths identifiable. Suspicion attached to Charles Jones, an English Jew, a painter, thirty years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build; dark brown whiskers, beard, and moustache, worn full ; slightly deaf and lame.

Stolen on the 7th instant, from a case containing photographs, in Colombo Street, Christchurch, about forty cartes de visite of men and women ; the name, Andrew Simpson, on the back of each ; the property of Andrew Simpson ; value 20s. Identification doubtful.

Stolen about the 6th instant,qfrorn the beach at St. Mary’s Road, Ponsonby, Auckland, a flat-bottomed dingy, about 12 feet long, sharp at ends, lower outside painted black and upper part white ; and a pair of paddles branded WC the property of William Cooper ; value £2 10s.

Lost or stolen on the 2nd or 3rd instant, from a buggy at Upper Ashburton, Canterbury District, a carriage rug, black imitation sealskin front, black and white interwoven on back the property of George Robinson ; value 30s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 2nd and 12th instant, from Brown Street, Dunedin,. about fifty common red bricks ; the property of Mathew Brown; value 4s. -
