Stolen about the 7th instant, at South Rakaia, Canterbury District, a bay saddle gelding, aged, black points, hands high, branded ML conjoined on off shoulder, an old plain saddle broken at pommel, new gullet-plate, and an old bridle ; the property of Neil McLean. Identifiable. The horse was stolen from a paddock, and the saddle and bridle from a stable adjoining.

Hara Penetito, alias Reheana, is charged, on warrant issued by the Cambridge Bench, with haying, on the 22nd June last, at Cambridge West, stolen a horse (since recovered, having been sold by the offender), the property of Hone Toti. Description : —A Maori, twen!y-threeyears of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, flat features, high cheek bones, large mouth, large brown eyes, black bushy hair; wore dark tweed coat and trousers, and light felt hat. He is supposed to have gone to the Piako country.

Identifiable. It is supposed that the mare was stolen by Natives returning to the Thames or Tauranga Districts from the Maori meeting at Hikurangi.

During the night of the 3rd instant two half-bred ewe sheep, value £2, the property of Richard Seccombe, were killed in a paddock near Alexandra, Auckland District, the carcasses carried away, and the skins and heads concealed in a swamp. Suspicion attached to Natives.
