Stolen on the 10th instant, from George Street, Dunedin, a single-breasted blue pilot cloth overcoat, lined with dark grey tweed, blue cloth buttons, one inside and two outside pockets, a small tear in left side the property of Francis Meenan ; value, 30s. Identifiable.

Stolen between 4 p.m. on the 9th and 7.30 a.m. on the 10th instant, from the Monday Morning Gold Mining Claim, Moanataiari Spur, Thames/ about 14 lbs. of brown-coloured quartz specimens (gold projects from portions of the stone). The property of John Brett and party value, £3O. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Richard Owsley, a partner in the claim.

Stolen on the Bth instant, from the hold of the lighter « Victoria,” at Jetty Street Jetty, Dunedin, two wooden cases, 18 inches square, marked “ H. L. and Co.” on top, each containing 12 bottles of Lome Highland Whiskey. The property of Edward Obery ; value, £4 10s.

Supposed stolen in July last, at Milford, Canterbury District, a double-barrel gun, one of Lock’s, out of order, the hammer falls badly ; the property of Alfred Enson. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Henry Jordan, English, thirty-two years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, darkbrown whiskers, beard, and moustache ; has been a cab-driver, and has the appearance of a jockey. It is believed he took the gun to Christchurch.

Stolen between the 11th and 15th instant, from Gape’s Valley, Canterbury District,' a nearly new spade, value 75., and a steel drill, 3 feet long by 1 inch thick, value 10s., the property of the Government. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 12th instant, from the Royal Hotel, Walker Street, Dunedin, a nearly new rope door-mat, diamond pattern, about 2 feet 3 inches by 1 foot 6 inches, the property of Thomas Cornish ; value, Bs. Identifiable. Stolen on the 12th instant, from the front door of the police station, at Nelson, a cast-iron door scraper and a cocoanut door-mat, the property of the Nelson police; value, 11s. Identifiable. '

Supposed stolen on the 12th of April last, from the Post Office at Queenstown, or while in transit by post between Queenstown and Dunedin, via, Invercargill, a small box, (addressed “Goldstein and Moller, Manufacturing Jewellers, Dunedin,”) containing a large colonial gold brooch, with portrait-box, without glasses, covered by a large leaf, a small portion of which is broken off, a wreath of flowers round frame, a small gold brooch with tassel drop, a small gold-leaf earring, plain pattern, without setting, and an escape-wheel of a geneva watch, one tooth broken, the property of James Bodkin. The box containing the jewellery was posted by Mr. Bodkin, at Queenstown, on the 12th of April last, but has not yet reached its destination.

Lost or stolen on the 11th instant, at Auckland, a Colonial Bank of New Zealand £5 note, the property of Donald H. McKenzie. Suspicion attached to Joel McDolmond, a native of Nova Scotia, a seaman, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build, fair hair, beardless, thin features; wore light tweed coat and trousers.

Stolen on the 15th instant, from the shop window of Morris David Barsht, at Christchurch, a pair of dark tweed trousers, white thread through material; value, 10s. 6d.

Stolen between 8 p.m. on the 18th and 10 a.m. on the 19th instant, from the Post Office at Ross, Westland District, a cash-box, containing £22 6s. 6d., the property of Mr. Curtis, Acting Postmaster at Ross. The cash-box and the money stolen, except 11s. Bd., were found by the police concealed under some wood in the Post Office yard. Suspicion attached to William Andrews, an assistant employed in the Post Office.

Stolen on the 17th instant, at Moeraki, Otago District, an old vest, in the pockets of which were a silver lever huntingwatch, maker, Denton, London, No. 8411, leather-guard attached, value £8 10s., a well-coloured meerschaum pipe, and 2s. 6d. in silver, the property of William Monson. Identifiable except the money. Suspicion attached to Felix Moffat, a Scotchman, a sailor, 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, medium build, dark hair,- small brown whiskers and moustache, speaks French ; wore heavy monkey-jacket, dark tweed trousers, cloth cap with ear-flaps, and white muffler. He left Palmerston on the 18th instant on foot, supposed for Port Chalmers. Monson, who was drunk, took off his vest for the purpose of fighting another man ; the suspect took up the vest and said he would leave it at his (Monson’s) house; he did not do so, but soon after left Moeraki, supposed for Port Chalmers.
