Effect of hormone application on fruit growth of apricots and peaches. Curve ABCD shows normal growth development, AB growth by cell division from fertilisation to beginning of stone hardening, BC virtual cessation of growth during stone hardening, and CD fruit size increase mainly by cell enlargement from completion of stone hardening to harvest. The application of 2,4,5-T at B induces fruit growth during stone hardening to give the growth curve ABE.
