BLOCK PRINTING is a very old process. It has been used for centuries for printing wallpapers and for decorating fabrics, as well as for pictorial representation. Of all the crafts it is one of the simplest to practise in the home. Only a few small tools are used and very little space is needed compared with that required for crafts like pottery or weaving. Elementary principles of designing and printing from a linoleum block are described by Helen Paine, Rural Sociologist, Department of Agriculture, Wellington.
