This Month's Cover
Though to a great extent heavy horses have been replaced on New Zealand farms by machinery, hacfys are still used widely. Interest in equestrian events at agricultural and pastoral shows is well maintained and in many districts has quickened, due to the great activity. of riding schools and pony, hunt, and light horse clubs, which are doing much to maintain the numbers and quality of riding animals. The horses shown on this month's cover, which has been reproduced from a colour photograph by Atkinson and Finney, were. champion and reserve champion in their class at the Wair arap a and East Coast A. and P. Association show at Carterton last October.
