SIMPLE INVENTION The invention which has contributed most to mankind’s progress is the wheel. Nothing man has conceived has given him greater service. Through the centuries the wheel has evolved from a crude means of movement to the transportation we know today. And human progress has paralleled the progress of transportation. Since 1939 the fate of civilisation has hinged on the ability of transportation to move fighting men and materials. On it will depend the fuller living of peace. From the beginning of Ford’s history through wars and peace —it has always been a Ford ideal to improve transportation. The Ford organisation was not started just to compete, but to create. Ford created the first quality low-cost car. Ford created the first industrial assembly line, introduced countless inventions and improvements, built 30,000,000 cars and trucks to serve economically the needs of all the people. Today at Ford plants throughout the British Commonwealth and in America, the pioneering still goes forward. New methods, new materials, new devices are continually being developed. You don’t hear about many of them, because Ford assignments have been military for over five years past.
