Kerosene is an excellent remedy for curing cuts and skin abrasions. It also helps, the duster to pick up dust instead of pushing it further on. We are not all lucky enough to have a marble slab for our pastry making activities, but you will find that the tray from your gas stove serves the purpose admirably. ' . ; ; # # > If you have coconut matting on your floors, you will save yourself endless work if you place newspaper underneath it. c The paper catches all the
dirt as it goes through, and it is ah easy matter to shake out your paper as well as your matting. ¥ * * Put a small piece of lard or clean fat and 1 oz. of sugar in starch when mixing. Your clothes will be glossier, and the iron will not stick. . «■ « * . If you wash doeskin gloves in water in which the skin of an orange' has been boiled, it will restore their natural colour. * * * Tell hubby to add a teaspoonful of peroxide to his shaving water. This will soften the whiskers, and make his shaving easier. V . * « Don’t mix your mustard fresh each time you need it. Mix a quantity, and after' 1 each using, fill the pot gently with water before putting away. When you need it again, carefully pour off the surplus water, and you will find your mustard fresh and ready for use again. * * * Now that violets are in again, here is a tip for keeping them fresh. Every night place them head downwards in a dish of water in which one aspirin tablet has been dissolved. Next morning dry them on a towel, and you will find that if you do this each night, they will last for quite two weeks.
