W ITH a view to encouraging farmers to plant trees for shelter, forest plantations, post timber, firewood, and other purposes on their farms, the Forestry Branch of the Lands and Survey Department is now prepared to supply suitable trees to farmers who wish to improve their farms in the manner referred to. Fruit-trees or trees for planting on town lots are not supplied. v In the North Island applications for trees should be made to the Superintending Nurseryman at Whakarewarewa, and in the South Island to the Superintending Nurseryman at Tapanui, who will supply price-lists and other particulars.
