STOCK IN QUARANTINE.
The following stock was received into quarantine during the month of March :
H.M. Consul-General at Chicago/ in a report dated the 9th January, states that the number of cattle received for packing purposes during 1912 was 1,681,136, comparedjwith 1,715,279 in 1911 ; of calves, 482,932, compared with 493,561 ; of swine, 5,998,782, compared with 5,929,585 ; and of sheep, 4,880,873, compared with 4,452,821. The total of all kinds was 13,043,723 in 1912, and 12,591,246 in 1911.
