IMPORTATION OF DOGS FROM UNITED KINGDOM.

It has . been . decided by the Government to reduce the period of quarantine to sixty days of dogs imported into New Zealand from the United Kingdom, dating from the time- of removal of the animal to the quarantine-station. This concession, applying only to dogs coming from the United Kingdom, is subject to the furnishing by the shipper of a sworn declaration to the effect that the animal has been domiciled in the . United Kingdom for not less than nine months (or, .if under nine months of age, from birth), and that it is his belief that it is free from disease, and has not during the preceding nine months been in contact with any dog suffering from disease. . The last portion of the declaration must be certified to by a qualified veterinary surgeon practising in the immediate neighbourhood of the dog’s domicile. In addition to the shipper’s declaration, the usual certificate issued at the port of - shipment by the Veterinarian acting for this Government must also be obtained. . .
