HEMP AND TOW GRADING RETURNS.

JANUARY, 1911.

Hemp. The total number of bales of hemp graded by the Department •during January was 9,899, as against 12,296 for the corresponding month of the previous year—a decrease of 2,397 bales. For the twelve months ended 31st January, 1911, the number of bales graded was 124,417, as against 93,035 for the previous twelve months—■an increase of 31,382 bales.

Tow. During the month 3,256 bales were dealt with, as against 4,184 for the previous montha decrease of 928 bales.
