The Taumarunui Racing Club’s annual meeting, to be held next "Wednesday, should be well patronised, and should afford settlers along the Main Trunk line (north and south) a good outing. The acceptances closed a day too late for inclusion l in this issue, but there should be plenty of horses to ensure a good meeting at this inland township of the North Island with its growing population. The Taranaki Jockey Club have received record nominations for their Christmas meeting, these totalling 383, which is an increase of 74 over last year’s number. In connection with the Seventh T * 3? be run at the autumn meeting, 30 horses remain in this event after paywent of the second forfeit the number including Gloaming, Silver Link, Hymestra, Winter Wind, Rossjm, Listowel, Affectation, and Weldone. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., will kold their annual sale of thoroughbreds on December 30. Yearlings from Waikanae (Wellington) and Okawa (Hawke’s Bay), and from sev ® ra J local studs will be disposed of, also some two and three-year-olds. The imported stud horse Marble Arch, the imported mares Ladysmock, with colt foal at foot and stinted again bv imported Snow King, and Lady Mareca, stinted to Snow King, and a number of horses in training will also be submitted. Several breeders intend selling their yearlings heXt autumn, so the catalogue for this month’s sale will not be a heavy one.
