THE ENGLISH PIERROTS.

The versatility of the English Pierrots is responsible for drawing large audiences to the Town Hall again this week, the current offering being well up to the opening standard. The ladies’ orchestra are a welcome addition to the entertainment, and form an artistic setting for the merry Pierrots. Their quartette is one of the most approved items on the bill, and Miss Marion' de Saxe’s (one of orchestra) flute solo makes an emphatic score. Miss Eva Gordon gives a brilliant rendering of the “Waltz Song,” and Miss Maxine McKenzie is vivaciously fetching in “Sophie’s Sweetheart,” while Miss Thelma Redgrave is another pleasing vocalist, and Miss Lilian Colenso brings the house down with her comicalities. Mr. W. P. Turner affords endless amusement with his recital of “Sister Mary”; Mr. Leslie Austin (one of the busiest factors in the entertainment) and Miss Joy Rolls delight everyone with their dance specialty; Mr. Chas. Lawrence shows a deep fund of humour in his pianologue numbers, and for straight-out singing Mr. David Lyle takes Ahe lead in “Spirit Flower” and “I Live for You,” with Mr. Roy Cooke, bass, following him closely in favour. Concerted items, including “Rag v. Opera,” “A Little Argument about Beans,” and “On the Riviera,” and a burlesque singing competition help towards a jolly evening.
