OPERA HOUSE.
Transport difficulties preventing the arrival of new vaudeville artists for the opening of the weekly bill at the Opera House on Monday, the Harry Burgess Company repeated last week’s revue, “Thick and Thin in a Gym,” which has a local flavour through being the work of Mr. J. Youlin Birch. The piece is brightly strung together, and is written to give scope to the respective qualities of the performers, which should easily make it one of the most acceptable to revue patrons. Messrs. Les Warton. Harry Burgess, Gus Franks. Ernest Lashbrooke, and Ernest Crawford, Misses Lola Hunt, Ivy Moore, and Linda Dale acquitted themselves capitally, and the ballets were heartily applauded. Jack and Cora Williams were the only fresh artists in the vaudeville portion, and they proved most illuminating in their original and striking act, which sees them performing all manner of aeronautic feats, including sensational revolutions while suspended by the teeth, daring rope-sliding and Serpentine dancing by the lady. The black and
white setting which encompasses their turn is most\ effective. The remainder of the; 'programme was agreeably sustained by Pollard and Jackson, Miss Mapd Courtney and Air. C., J. Wallingford Tate r and Theodore. On Thursday, all-vaudeville will once more prevail, imported acts arriving without fail, .to strengthen the bill. ’ ’ <
