TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. CONCLUDING DAY. The two-day annual meeting of the Te Aroha Jockey Club was concluded in good weather. There was again a large attendance, and the absence of dust — which has characterised so many of the meetings held there —made the conditions such as to please those present and the many who had motored to the meeting. After heavy, rains, the Te Aroha course is seen at its best. The racing was again good, and the field well up to the average. The form of the first day worked out very well, and the sum of £25,662 was put through the totalisators, representing an increase of £230 10s. for the two days over last year. The chief open race of the day . was won by Rockfield, who conceded Ohinewairua 271 b. and Te Oro 321 b. Rockfield is in great form just now. The Glaxo Cup produced the greatest interest for a lot of people, that race having been put on to encourage the owners of horses eligible for what is known as the hack class. The race was won by Mr. W. C. Ring’s Ruatara, a gelding bred by that owner. Ruatara had behind him General Advance, Hineamaru and a big field. Winsome Arch won the Maiden Handicap, beating 17 others. Mottle Rose, one of those sent out to start, galloped over four miles before the race, and was allowed to be withdrawn. The little mare, Monocrat, who has stood up to racing well, won the. Wairau Hack Race, beating 11 others. This was her best race to date. Prince Charleroi had a neck win over Gold Plane in the Electric Handicap, and is now at about the top of his ' form. Kereone’s turn came in the Farewell Handicap, in which he defeated Rekanui, Tabasco and two others. Mr. Nash (secretary) and his staff got through the business of the meeting very well, and the stewards must have been well pleased with the business generally. The results were: —
