N.Z. CUP CARNIVAL.

"WINNING OWNERS AND JOCKEYS.

During the three days’ Cup meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club at Riccarton backers experienced a successful time in view of the large percentage of well-supported candidates that caught the judge’s eye in the thirty-two races. The actual favourites scored on no less than ten occasions, while nine second favourites were returned winners. Third favourites accounted for four races, while fifth favourites were successful on three occasions and sixth favourites twice. The remaining four events were won by fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth favourites, respectively. SIR GEO. CLIFFORD HEADS OWNERS’ LIST.

SUCCESSFUL HORSEMEN. B. Deeley was the most successful horseman, riding five winners, including the N.Z. Cup winner Vagabond. G. Young and R. Reed each piloted three winners, while R. S. Bagby, A. Reed, T. L. Reid, and H. Young were responsible for a brace of successes apiece. F. W. Ellis, F. Cook, F. C. Porter, R. Thompson, J. Olsen, J. Hockley, W. Bush, J. T. Humphries, C. Stowe, A. J. McFlinn, H. Me Sweeney, H. Goldfinch and T. McNaughton each piloted a winner at the fixture.
