The opening meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt Club was held on Saturday afternoon at the Tamaki Hall, and was largely attended. Two hours good hunting followed, and a kill resulted. The weather has been altogether too dry so far, and consequently there should be better sport later. The annual meeting of the Whangarei Racing Club was a very enthusiastic one, and the attendance was an extraordinarily large one. The increase in stakes for the next race meeting, it was suggested by the president, would bring the total to £2OOO. The membership was now nearly 250, and he (Mr. Hosking) hoped to see it reach 500.
