The Wanganui sportsman and breeder, Mr. G. M. Currie, finding that there is a deal of uncertainty re the shipping of horses to Australia, where he has annually sent a batch of his yearlings for sale, intends submitting all his yearlings next month on his estate at Kohautunui, Wanganui, on February 21, intervening between the Wanganui autumn meeting race days. As most of them are by imported Absurd, the gets of that sire are sure to be in demand. Mr. Currie is one of our studmasters who does his stick well.

The ex-Auckland pony Agnestes was a competitor at the Victoria Park races in Sydney last month, the daughter of Malster contesting the First Division of the 14.2 Handicap, run over six furlongs. She carried 8.2, and led over the greater portion of the journey, only to be defeated by Plantross (7.8), who prevailed by a couple of lengths from the ex-New Zealander. At Feilding, when the recent meeting was on, the thoroughbred yearlings bred by Mr. J. Moore, of Bushy Park, Wanganui, were disposed of by auction, and a number of the gets of imported Hallowmas (who, like Martian, is a son of Martagon) were disposed of at satisfactory prices. Hallowmas is a very fine horse, whose stock later on will, likely be seen to considerable advantage on our racecourses.
