His sire, Del Coronado, is a son of the great McKinney, and a sire of the famous mare White Sox, who won the world’s Greatest Free-for-all (£4000) at the Panama Exposition, and last year gained the World’s Record for the three fastest miles, over a half-mile track. Time, 2.4%. His dam, a 2.5 pacer at three years old, and is a descendant from the famous Director, so that Van Coronado combines the best blood of two of the most celebrated families in America. He is the only Wildwood horse whose sire and dam were both imported from America, and he has already proved himself a big stud success, having sired amongst many winners the champion four-year-old mare Country Belle, winner of the New Zealand Trotting Cup, and who afterwards lowered the Australian record by 6 l-ssec. by trotting the two miles in 4min. 22 4-ssec.
