GISBORNE RACING CLUB.

STEEPLECHASE MEETING. The Gisborne Racing Club will hold their steeplechase meeting on their course at Te Hapara on Thursday and Saturday, June 13 and 15. The programme arranged in connection with this popular steeplechase gathering is of a most interesting and varied character, and augurs well for the fixture being liberally patronised by the jumping division. No less than four cross-country events are to be decided, chief of which is the Gisborne Steeplechase Handicap, of 400 sovs., three miles, to be run on the opening day when the Tramway Hack Steeplechase, of 150sovs., two miles, will also receive attention. The Te Hapara Steeplechase, of 200sovs., 2% miles, and the Turanganui Steeplechase, of 150sovs., two miles, and the Gisborne Hurdles of 200sovs., 1% miles constitute the leading attractions on the second day. The Winter Oats Handicap, of 17550v5., 144 miles, and the Park Hurdles, of 25050v5., two

miles, are among the first day’s events, in addition to the Flying Handicap, of 150sovs., six furlongs, Maiden Hack Race of 12550v5., four furlongs, and the Hack Flat Handicap, of 125 sovs., seven furlongs. The big flat event on the second day is the Waikanae Handicap, of 150sovs., one mile, while the sprinters will be seen in action in the Farewell Handicap, of 150sovs., six furlongs' The hack events comprise the Maiden Hack Handicap, of 125sovs„ five furlongs, and the Second Flat Hack Handicap, of 12550v5., six furlongs. Nominations for all events close with the secretary, Mr. H. E. Dodd, on Wednesday, May 22, at 9 p.m.
