NEW ZEAEAND ILLUSTRATED SPORTING 6 DRAMATIC REVIEW INCREASE IN PRICE. Commencing from the April 4th issue of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review” the price of this wesk’y journal will te raised to 8d per single copy. The chief cause for this unavoidable increase in price is the greatly increased cost of printing paper, which since the start of the war has advanced over 300 per cent, in price. That New Zea’a nd newspapers are not alone in experiencing the enormous increases in the cost of production is made apparent by the fact that since the war began and up to the end of 1917 in Great Britain 92 dai ies and 582 weeklies have found it imperative to increase their selling prices. Not only are newspaper proprietors faced with increased cost of every material used in the production of an i’lustrated weekly paper, but also with grave difficulties in regard to obtaining supplies, huge heights, charges and duties on imports from other countries. Every endeavour will be made to maintain the “Sporting and Dramatic Review” at its present 7 evel. while, with the issue of April 4th. it is hoped to inaugurate certain improvements, and thus increase the value for the additional cost, which we are obliged to ca 1 ! upon the public to pay in part. The subscription rates will be as follow: — 3Cs. per annum. 16s. half-year’y. Bs. 6d. quarterly. Payable in advance. Note. —A similar increase will also be made on the same date by the “Auckland Weekly News,” “The Weekly Press and Referee” and “The Otago Witness.”
