GORE RACING CLUB.

SUMMER MEETING. The officials of the Gore Racing Club are sparing no effort to ensure their summer meeting, which is set down for decision on Wednesday, March 6, proving an unqualified success, and indications point to their desire being fully realised. Southland trainers are keeping their horses well up to the collar in view of the approaching fixture, which also promises to attract a number of visiting horses. The chief event is the Gore Cup, of 300sovs., one mile and a-quarter, for which there should be a good entry, while the Welcome Steeplechase, of 115sovs., two and a-half miles, should be the means of a number of trainers deciding to take their ’chasers to the fixture. In addition to the Summer Handicap, of 130sovs., six furlongs, and three other flat events, two trotting races (both harness) are included on the programme. Nominations for all handicaps, including time trots, are due with the secretary, Mr. J. Latham, on or before Monday next (February 25), at 8.30 p.m.
