GISBORNE RACING CLUB.
SUMMER MEETING
The Gisborne racing carnival will be opened on Thursday (February 7), when the Gisborne Racing Club’s summer meeting will take place on the club’s course at Te Hapara. There is every prospect of some excellent racing, a number of visiting horses having put in an appearance with a view to competing at the fixture, and also at the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s gathering on Saturday. The acceptances for the events to be decided at the Gisborne Racing- Club’s meeting on Thursday are as follows: —
FIRST HANDICAP HURDLES, one mile and a-half.—Master Timi 10.12, Con 10.7, Nicomar 10.0, Toki 9.7, Kohinahina 9.0.

Desert Gold’s defeat in the Kelburn Plate is aserbed in some quarters to her getting her mouth caught in the tapes.
Prince Viridis, who was i.i Mason’s opinion about the best three-year-old that Biplane met in Australia, is reported to be doing well in training.
