SPRING MEETING HANDICAPS. The declaration by Mr. F. W. Edwards of the handicaps for the Auckland Trotting Club’s spring meet'ng, which takes place on Saturday, October 13, has aroused keen interest in trotting circles, and it is generally contended that the handicaps are of such an equitable nature as to ensure a most encouraging acceptance on Friday evening next (October 5), when owners and trainers are called upon to notify the secretary, Mr. C. F. Mark, of intending competitors at the gathering by nine o’clock, the time stipulated for the closing of acceptances. The track at Alexandra Park is in ideal condition,, and in view of the large number of horses in readiness to compete at the approaching fixture, it only requires a fine day to make the Auckland Trotting Club's spring carnival a record in every respect.
