THE LATE MR. JAMES WELCH, the popular English comedian, who died in London on April 10, aged 52. Mr. Welch was best known to playgoers through his interpretation of “When Knights Were Bold,” in which character he is depicted in the photograph. He was generally considered one of the quaintest and most mirth-provoking comedians of recent years.
