WANGANUI.

Successful Horsemen at Wanganui— F. Til.’ey Turns Out Four Winners at Local Meeting—St. Gate in Work Again. WANGANUI, Monday. B. Deeley steered four winners at the Wanganui meeting, but owing to Thames being disqualified he is credited with three wins only. J. O’Shea, H. Young, C. Price and A. Reed had two wins each, and others to ride winners were E. Copestake, A. McDonald, T. W. Avery and J. Olsen.

Thames ran two good races at the meeting here, and it was bad luck that she lost the stake in the Harrison Hack. The three-year-old daughter of Danube and Armlet is a splendid looking filly. She is perhaps a bit mean in front, but she has great quarters and fine loins.

Moutoa Queen was turned out in excellent form by Fred Tilley, the four-year-old daughter of Charlemagne 11. winning a race each day. Tilley had a big innings at the meeting, as he also trained Client, the Cup winner, and Pohehe, which got the stake in the Harrison Hack, and Ararat, who paid a second dividend in the Autumn Handicap. J. Peachey has St. Gate in work again, and hopes to have the gelding fit enough to race at Feilding.

It is understood that Mr. E. J. Watt cabled instructions to T. Quinlivan to scratch Bunting for the Wanganui Stakes, but the trainer cabled asking permission to start the son of All Black, as he was so fit and looked to have a second to none chance. It is said that Bunting was heavily backed for the race in question, and that his connections had a good win. Three inquiries were held during the first day of the Wanganui meeting. E. Copestake, the rider of Record, was fined £1 for not riding his horse out, and A. McDonald was similarly penalised for not riding Sir Wai-

lace out in the Tayforth Welter. B. H. Morris was suspended for three months for crossing in front of Depredation in the Cup. A Hallowmas —Crucinella yearling colt is for private sale. It is a finelooking youngster, and bred as it is should be a top-notcher. The colt is closely related to Client (Elevation — Bonheur). Bonheur was by Seaton Delaval —Charante, and Crucinella being by San Francisco —-Crarante, the Hallowmas —Crucinella youngster is thus a close blood relation. The youngster is owned by Mrs. Mcßeth, St. John’s Hill.

The Client-Form Up combination was freely coupled in doubles, and Bunting and Chakwana must also have hit the layers fairly hard.
