ELLERSLIE ITEMS.

During the week most of the Ellerslie horses engaged at the remaining country fixtures were kept up to the collnr. On Saturday the inner grass was open, where most of the horses galloped. Rosori alone galloped six furlongs, registering Imin 18 l-ssec. The filly was tiring at the finish. Loyal Arch put in long slow work alone. Wartime ran five furlongs, the last half-mile taking 52sec. The Celt, with J. Anderton in the saddle, went round the tan at a strong pace, sprinting up the straight. McCarty’s big green chestnut displayed pace and style in a few furlongs sprint. The leppers, Waimai, Paramahone, Captain Lock, Tragedy King, Sylvan Knight, Master Regel, Te Onga, El Gallo and Luperino all worked usefully, while Barbwire completed a round of the schooling course, fencing well. The sprinters Bellacity, Hiero, Fabriquette, Ring Lupin, Bowler, Sylvasco, Blue and Black, Waihinepai and Pink Tie put in short sprints on the grass in couples and alone. Tabasco alone swung round the inner grass in a shade under Imin 45sec., a task which took Rae’s pair, Bleriot and

Waiuta, Imin 48sec to encompass, the former being- in front. Idra, alone, covered the same distance in Itnin 47sec. Prince Merriwee worked on the tan, and is lining down and may prove use fol for the autumn meetings.

Pendoon, Merry Roe. Penniless, Chilblain, Pierrot, Caber Feagh, Bluestone. Monorail and others put in medium pace tasks. Silver Lupin indulged Juanna with the lead in the first five of six furlongs, and then put on the pressure and Hew past the chestnut mare, the last half m.le taking 51 4-ssec. White Sox had all the best of Lady Paula and Scultane in a shade under Imin 19sec. The latter seems to have lest all his latent dash. At the Haymarket on Friday, Erinagh, the big Elysian—Cressy filly, was sold for 130 guineas, the purchaser being Mr. Donovan. Ngatimaru. the full brother to Domino, was sold cheaply at 14 guineas. TUESDAY. On Tuesday the sand, tan and inner grass tracks were available for the winding up gallops for the horses engaged at the Te Aroha Jockey Club’s meeting. War Time, with assistance, ran five furlongs in Imin Ssec, a task which the stable mates Prince Merriwee and

First Call accomplished in rmin sscc, with the Prince in front. Rosori alone left five furlongs behind in Imin 8 2-ssec. Bowler finished in front of Hiero over five furlongs. The last half mile was run in 40 3-ssec. Blue and Black beat a track companion over five furlongs, easing up, in Imin 6sec, the former not being ridden right out. British Arch was in front of Plenipotent in a half mile spin, registering 52 2-ssec. Alf. Delaval encompassing the same distance in 51 l-ssec. Loyal’ Arch, Tabasco and Fabriquette set out to run six furlongs. The firstnamed finished in front Tabasco had 'to be pulled up, bleeding. Bellacity sprinted half a mile in the moderate time of 53 3-ssec. The Campfire gelding in J. Chaafe's care and Paul Moore sprinted four furlongs in 50 2-ssec. Pink Tie alone ran half a mile in 49 3-ssec. Lady Paula went a furlong less in 37 2-ssec. P. Jones, E. J. Rae. J. E. Thorpe and C. Coleman had their charges on the easy list. Barbwire negotiated a round of the big schooling hurdles alone. All the work, unless otherwise mentioned, was on the inner grass. After breakfast Idra and Silver Lupin were tried over the grass circuit, the former winning by a clear length in Imin 4G 2-ssec —a fair gallop. Ring Lupin sprinted half a mile in 49sec, finishing up his task well. Waihinepai and Juanna had a four furlong flutter leaving the distance behind in 50 l-ssec, the former having a length the best of the gallop. Master Regel, after warming up on the tan, flew four of the schooling battens, giving a speedy display of clean hurdle jumping. Chilblain scampered over four furlongs on the sand in 51sec. Signo and Caber Feagh circled the grass at top. The bout was all in favour of the former. Waimai and Captain Loci', after a little exercise, jumped the sod wall double fences and the ston° wall.
