AUTUMN MEETING. BEE WINS THE CUP. The Dunedin Jockey Club’s autumn meeting was opened on Wednesday in showery weather, the attendance beingsatisfactory, and some interesting racing was witnessed. The Cup held numbered a dozen, of which Rorke’s Drift was favourite, with the Martian mare Bee better fancied than John Barleycorn and Snub. The race resulted in a decisive victory for Bee, who, capably handled, defeated Ringform, who was one of the outsiders, by three lengths, with Snub two lengths and ahalf away third. The totalisator returns showed a falling off of 1378 a as compared with the opening day of the 1916 autumn fixture, the amount put through on Wednesday being £18,137. as against £21,922 last year.
