TUESDAY. The course opened at 4.45 a.m., and trainers had the use of the course proper, which was in splendid order. Gold Necklet was going easier than Soultane over six furlong's in lmin 22 4-ssec. Lady Winsome easily held Whitehall in a short sprint. Jack Delaval alone worked usefully. Gwent beat Tact from the new five furlong post in lmin 5 l-ssec, while Colonel Soult alone left a circuit behind in 2min ssec. Homeric brought Tatterley home over the last four of five furlongs, which were run in lmin 6 l-ssec. Bellacity beat Argent over a furlong less in 53 l-ssec. Prince Soult had the best of Hemisphere from the three-quarters of a mile post in lmin 20 2-ssec. The Prince ran more generously than usual. El Gallo appeared to be going much stronger than Te Papapa at the end of seven furlongs in lmin 35 3-ssec. Cultriform and Fisher took lmin 36 2-5 sec to cover the same ground. British Arch beat Last Call from the five furlong post in lmin 6 l-ssec. King of the Valley, Cardrona and Alf. Delaval galloped a furlong further in lmin 20 4-ssec, finishing as above. Jocular and Harlestone were close together at the end of six furlongs in lmin 22 2-ssec. Hohungatahi and Kidderminster left four furlongs behind in 55 2-ssec. The Celt ran seven furlongs in lmin 41 3-ssec. Glenroy ran seven furlongs and pleased the onlookers very much, covering the distance in lmin 33sec. Genevieve was ahead of All Talk, registering- 52 l-ssec for four furlongs. Bisogne and Gold Lac went six furlongs in lmin 21 l-ssec. Autumn Rose ran five furlongs in lmin 7 2-ssec. Eralf and Pembra galloped a furlong further in lmin 23 2-5 sec, with the former in front. The Flavus filly, Rock Diamond and Persian King ran as above, registering 53 l-ssec for the half mile. Luperino beat Sandy Lupin in a sprint. Arran sprinted three furlongs in 38 3-ssec. The Channel jumped the steeplechase fences on the flat safely. Akuhata went over the big schooling battens alone, while Kinkora flew the pony hurdles slowly. Alteration beat Rockfield over seven furlongs in lmin 34 l-ssec. . After breakfast Waihinepai settled Rosora from the. five furlongs post in lmin 7 l-ssec. General Joffre and Idra ran six furlongs in lmin 21sec, with the General slightly in front. Kitty Bellairs put up the smartest four furlongs of the morning, running the distance in 50 4-s’sec. Patetonga ran away from Spalspire in a half-mile spin in 52 l-ssec. Independence, Bedford and Penniless ran home from the six furlong post in lmin 21sec, as above. Lady Glen reduced the time to lmin 20 3-ssec when she defeated Marble Star. Lady Penury and Pendoon jumped off at the mile and a-quarter post. The latter pulled off after going five furlongs and Royal Irish joined in, beating the mare home by a small margin. The circuit took 2min 3sec, and the mile and a-quarter 2mm 16sec—a sound gallop. Ring Lupin .fluttered over five furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssee. Coleraine went a furlong further in lmin 21 l-ssec, beating Erroneous. Toka Toka jumped the small hurdles alone. Delemar led Dancastor over six of the schooling hurdles in good style. Ulster was finishing sounder than Brookfield in a schooling match. Both horses are well. Marconi, Ngatimaru and Lochlantis came home in this order after the latter had made all the running over the battens. The morning’s schooling work was concluded with Gluepot, Warhead, Master Drury, Jacaranda and Kaiwhakahaere stepping out to go over the hill. Starting at the sod wall they took the water jump, stone wall and old water jump. The first fence on the hill proved fatal to Jacaranda’s chance and he lost his rider, and the first fence of the double brought Kaiwhakahaere to earth. The other three finished as above. The long named one was remounted and jumped the double and stone wall.
