TROTTING NOTES.

Messrs. C. F. Mark, J. Rowe and H. R. Mackenzie left this week for the Trotting Conference at Wellington, and after attending the big racing fixture at Trentham will probably journey on to Christchurch to attend the Trotting Conference in the Cathedral City.

T. W. Price lias Dignity, the pacer Silver Black and others jogging about the roads, keeping in nice healthy condition. This mentor visited Alexandra Park on Saturday morning, and had a look over the track. He will probably make an early start with his team for the spring events.

W. A. Scott has Miss Huon Junr., the straight-out trotter, and Wild Maid in nice healthy condition, and when the track dries up he will pro bably make a move with his team.

N. Cunningham was at the Park last week with the flying miler Master Park, who looks nice and big. He has also a maiden pacer that has visited the track and worked in harness. His latter charge is a bit on the small side, but very compactly made.

There is also a Dan Patch maiden candidate working at headquarters occasionally, which is a bit on the small side, but a natural pacer.

Mr. E. Sandall. who is probably one of the oldest trotting enthusiasts in Auckland, only has one string to his bow now in the big black straight-out trotter Hauraki, by Tracy Rothschild, which is kept in good health, being used by the owner, who should have a cut in some of the early meetings.

Mr. Charles Lennard. who parted with Le Lawn some time ago, has replaced the son of Le Rosier —Lawn Rose with a promising youngster, which is coming on and when ready will be put into work by this lover of the mixed pacing equine.

Last week the writer had a chat with Mr. Wm. Perrin, who is now a dairy farmer at Paterangi, Waikato. Mr. Perrin, who is thoroughly conversant with the game, seems very optimistic about the future of 'trotting up this end of the Dominion. Mr. Perrin places great store about the future of the Normintson —Lucy Hinton two-year-old gelding, which is a straight-out trotter. The same owner has handled a two-year full sister to Dick Fly (Dictator— Botfly). Dick Fly, by the way, is the biggest registered pacer in the Dominion. He has also broken in a yearling filly by Jewel Chimes —Allwood Fashion, a natural pacer, and has handled a good cut of a yearling pacer by Normintson —Hind. The latter is a colt that shows future promise. Hind is by Wildwood from Sing Sing. Another addition to Perrin’s formidable team is a two-year-old gelding by Ghaoi —Painter.

Mr. J. Teddy, junior, of Kaipaki, Te Awamutu, is at the present time jogging his fairly big team about the roads. They are all in excellent condition for this time of the year. His two imported sires, Nut Ansel and Rotomanuka, look robust and well.

Mr. W. C-. Abbott, of Ngaruawahia, is working Tim Doolan on the roads. His other colt Strategy is at the present time at Christchurch.

Mr. George Paul is utilising his big bay mare Arra Wanna as a light plough horse. She will probably be found chasing the “oats stakes” in th* near future at Alexandra Park.

Another trotting sportsman, Mr. Joe Edwards, of Te Awamutu, has a big two-year-old filly by Ghaoi —Dido, that looks like furnishing into something massive when more matured.

If the weather takes up we may expect to see the trotters and pacers again assembling at headquarters to get some of the winter grossness off in time for the spring fixtures.
