LADIES’ GOLF.

Auckland. The following are the best cards returned in the medal competition and qualifying round for the captain’s match played by the Maungakiekie Ladies’ Golf Club on July sth:—Miss Bayly, 91-11-80; Miss Burgess 102 21—81; Miss K. Seufer, 108 —26 — S2‘ Miss Gorrie, 92 —7 —So; Miss Abbott 119—34—85; Miss McGovern, 124—36—88. The following also qualified, in the order named; Miss Moginie, Miss B. Miss Wilson and Miss Hall tied, and must play off for loth place. * * * V The members of the Auckland Ladies’ Golf Club played the July medal match in three division on Tuesday, July 4. The senior S was won by Miss M. Payton, 92—13 79, with Miss K. Holmes, 99—1486, second; the junior grade by Miss K. Clark, 108—21—87, and the C grade (over a 12-hole course) by Mrs. Watson, 83—35—48. s|£ M 5 Hamilton. There is very little golf, being played here, the only competitions being lor the Red Cress medals. Mrs. Douglas, captain of the club, has been away at her seaside cottage at Thames tor some weeks. Miss Furze did a record round on the links last Wednesday, her score being 94. Wellington. At a meeting of the committee of the Miramar Ladies’ Golf Club, patiiotic cake room, it was decided to send £5O to the No. 1 Stationary Hospital, £5O to the No. 2 Stationary Hospital, £5O to the British Red Cross for extra comforts for the wounded soldiers, and £2o to the Victoria Hospital, Newtown, also for extra comforts for the wounded soldiers. This money has been made from the sale of home-made cakes and sweets on one day a week—every Friday. * * * * Nelson. The following are the results of the June matches: —Senior medal: Miss Harkness, 96—15—81. Junior medal: Miss Dodson, 96 —12 —75. Eencounter Shield: Miss Dodson, 96 —21 —75. Red Cross bogey: Mrs. Cock, 13, all square. ♦ * * * Thames. In the second round for the Albert Bruce Bowl, Mrs. Will Price finished first with a net score of 60; Miss Clendon 61, Miss Bertha Baker 70, Mrs. Clendon 71, Mrs. Bruce 75, Mrs. Malfroy 78, Miss Lil Pri££ 78. The tie for bogey match, for Mrs. Glendon’s trofiby \vis' also played off, resulting in Miss B. Baker defeating Miss Lil Price. The points to date for the Bruce Bowl are: Miss Clendon 6 Mrs. Will Price 5, Miss Watson 3, Miss Lil Price 3, Miss B. Baker 2, and Mrs. Clendon 1. # * * New Plymouth. The second round for Mrs. Walker’s cup was played during the past week, the following players winning their matches: —Mrs. Johns beat Mrs. K B. Bain, 4 up and 3; Mrs. Glenn beat Miss L. Reed, 3 up and 2; Miss F. Putt beat Miss K. Free, 1 up at 19th hole; Miss Brewster beat Miss Leatham, 5 up and 4. The rules governing this competition are such that each round is to be drawn, and so in the semi-final Mrs. Johns will play Miss Putt and Mrs. Glenn plays Miso Brewster. .» * * * Dunedin. The ladies, of the Otago Club played their usual monthly medai match on July 4th. The day was fine, hut a very cold wind was blowing during the earlier part of the afternoon. There was a splendid entry, and the game seemed to be very much enjoyed. The winter conditions have quite settled on the links, the ground being wet and the greens heavy. Two of the holes have been cut out and temporary ones substituted, as was the case last year, making the par 78 instead of 81. Among the players were Mesdames Sargood, Gilray, Mackie, Acheson, Bakewell,, and the Misses Mill, B. Glendining, L. Roberts, N. Glendining, D. Theomin, M. Law, R. Jamieson, I. Todd, C. Ogston, K. Black, and V. Fynmore. In the senior division the best scores were: Mrs. Sargood, 98—13—85; Miss N. Glen-

dining, 103 —17 —86; Mrs. Mackie, 104 _ 17 _87; Miss Mill, 106—15—91. The bronze division was won by Mrs. Acheson, Avfro had the best nett score of the day, 107—26—81. The Red Cross match will be held (weather permitting) on Thursday, July 20th, and it is hoped that the entry will he as good as that of last month.
