WINTER MEETING. The Otaki Maori Racing Club’s winter meeting will be opened on Saturday (King’s Birthday) and will be concluded on Monday, June 3. Exceptionally large acceptances have been received for the various events and everything points to the meeting proving the most successful in the history of the club. A big field is engaged in the principal event, the Ruakawa Cup (one mile and a-quarter), included in the number being the well-fancied candidates, Rewi Poto. Kooya, Orleans. Square Deal. Gold Soult and Lady Louisa, so that a keen struggle is anticipated. Excursion trains have been arranged to cariw racegoers to the course from the surrounding townships and distiicts, and the attendance should, therefore, be up to the most sanguine expectations.
