HIS MAJESTY’S.

PAUL DUFAULT. Paul Dufault, the ever-delightful and ever-welcome tenor, will open a brief season of three concerts at His Majesty’s Theatre, Auckland, next Saturday night. Since Mr. Dufault’s first concert in Dunedin on Easter Monday his tcur has developed into a sort of triumphal progress, marked by packed houses, wildly demonstrative audiences and enthusiastic press comments Commenting on his opening concert, the “Evening Star” of Dunedin says:-—“His Majesty’s was crowded to its full capacity, and the spontaneous welcome gave the impression that everyone in the audience had been anxiously waiting for months to renew a delightful acquaintance.” Mr. Dufault’s return to Auckland is sure to be warmly welcomed. It is needless to attempt to analyse the speL which the popular French-Canadian casts over his hearers. The word “personality” is a much-abused one nowadays, but it is just what Paul Dufault possesses in so eminent a measure, and which enables him to get the meaning of his songs over the footlights and into the hearts of his hearers The veriest musical dullard could not but hear Dufault’s interpretations with quickened sensibilities and a new perception. Mr. Dufault will be assisted by Miss Pauline Bindley, the Bendigo soprano, and Harold Whittle, the Sydney pianist, both of whom were with Mr. Dufault on his last visit here. The new member of the party is Miss Florence Scapini, a talented Christchurch violinist. Although a very young girl, not out of her teens, Miss Scapini has already won pronounced success. During Robert Parker’s Australian tour, she supported him, and Australian critics were enthusiastic in their praises of her. The box plan for the Dufault season is now open at Wildman and Arey’s.

The “Murder of Nurse Cavell” is now being written up into a drama by two Frenchmen.
