OPERA HOUSE.

A very attractive change Cn the vaudeville programme tendered by the management of the Opera House took place on Monday evening. Amongst the- new acts the yeodelling of Mr. Ted Russell met with great favour. He claims to be the first performer from : the vaudeville stage to have volunteered for service at the front, and while landing w'lth the Victorian contingent at Gaba Tepe he was severely wounded in one knee, so severely that he has been permanently disabled from further service. His two musical items were well received. The must’cal comedy turn given by Vernon, and Sinclair, who made their reappearance, was also well received by their old friends. Another old favourite in Mr. Phil Percival gave one of h's amusing burlesques and was received with hearty applause. In Miss Violet Trevenyon, the Messrs. Fuller have captured an artist whose talents are fully appreciated by their patrons. Her songs always rouse the audience to a pitch of enthusiasm. She possesses a charming and dainty stage appearance, understands the art of dressing the part, and sings without a trace of vulgarity. During the whole season she has been here Miss Trevenyon has been a decided acquisition to the local vaudeville stage. The second part of the programme was given up to the Elton Black Revue Company, and in their presenta-

tlon of “Going Some” the fun waxed fast and furious, whJe the & ng-ng and character act.ng of the chief comedians leares little to be desired. The dancing by the chorus and the clever “gags” and w-tty repartee make up an unusually entertain: ng bill of fare for the second half of the programme. During the coming holiday season, beginning on Box.ng Night, the management w il present a mat.nee each day for Lie tene..t of the v sitors to the city, as weil as their usual wellknown 'fine holiday programme in the evening.
